In the early 1900, it's become a military prison and in 1934, a high-security federal penitentiary. Visitors can easily recognize many of the prisoners that served time on "The Rock." The most notable include Al Capone, Robert Stroud, and Machine Gun Kelly. The prison shut its door in 1963 however; it opened again for public tours in 1973. The world-famous Golden gate bridge is the identity of the city. This 1.7-mile marvelous structure connects San Francisco with Marin County and points farther north. The bridge opens just before the dawn and closes after dark each night. Originally finished in 1937, the bridge opens its gates daily for the public to admire its beauty. After a walk, don't forget to visit the small museum on the southern San Francisco side. In the museum, you can learn more about bridge including some fun facts and history about it.
